Coil Material and Construction Certifications


ASME – American Society of Mechanical Engineers
Super Radiator currently holds the ASME U, UM, and S stamps. Coils are designed, constructed and tested to meet the requirements of the applicable section of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.

U and UM – Unfired Pressure Vessels under Section VIII, Division 1 of the code

S - Power Boilers under Section I of the code



Super Radiator currently holds the ASME N and NPT stamp for coils that are used in nuclear power plants in safety critical applications. The N stamp requires strict adherence to a rigid quality control system. Super Radiator is one of fewer than 90 companies worldwide that are able to offer N stamp certification.
N and NPT - Nuclear Vessels and Appurtenances under Section III, Division 1 of the Code.
R Symbol – The scope of Authorization is limited as follows: Metallic Repairs & Alterations to Pressure Containing Items in accordance with the provisions of the National Board (NBIC).


UL 207 – Underwriter’s Laboratories

Evaporator and Condenser coils are listed with Underwriter’s Laboratories and built in accordance with the requirements of UL 207 and ANSI/ASHRAE Std 15, the Safety Code for Mechanical Refrigeration.



Intertek – ETL Semko

Refrigerant coils for high pressure R-410-A service are listed with ETL in accordance with the requirements of the Standard for Safety Heating and Cooling Equipment (ANSI/UL 1995 and CAN/CSA C22.2)



CRN

CRN – Canadian Registration Number

Coils with working pressures over 15 psi that are installed in Canada must have a Canadian Registration Number (CRN) issued by the province where the coils will be installed. Super Radiator obtains CRN numbers in accordance with the Canadian “Boiler” Pressure Vessel and Pressure Piping Code (B51).



CSA – Canadian Standards Association

This is an additional option in where coils are certified with CSA and built in compliance with STD C22.2 and all provisions governing that certification.



CE – European Mark

Coils installed in Europe are required to be built in accordance with the Pressure Equipment Directive (PED). The PED dictates when a CE mark can and cannot be applied to a coil. Super Radiator can build coils in accordance with the PED for Categories I, II, and III.



Coil Thermal Performance Certifications


AHRI

AHRI – Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute:

The performance ratings for certain water and steam coils are certified to AHRI. These ratings are established by testing to ASHRAE Std. 33 and are certified to AHRI in accordance with AHRI Std. 410.



Super Radiator Coils is authorized to perform R stamp repairs of ASME U, UM and S stamped heat exchangers. These repairs can be done in the field and at our Richmond, VA facility.
